Product details

This textbook provides sustainable support for conducting computational strength verifications in accordance with the 7th edition of the FKM guideline "Computational Strength Verification for Machine Components" from 2020. It explains the calculation process as described in the FKM guideline, omitting the presentation of various special cases. This streamlined process facilitates understanding and is still sufficient for many applications. The procedure for a strength verification is illustrated with practical examples that can be followed and recalculated by the reader. In the examples, the determination of local elasticity-theoretical stresses using the finite element software ANSYS Workbench is an additional component beyond the guideline. With the extensive supplementary material available for download online, the finite element calculations for stress determination and the linear damage accumulation using the Miner method can be consistently traced.
