Sofia Andruchowytsch, born in 1982 in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, lives in Kyiv as a writer, translator, and essayist. She achieved her literary breakthrough in 2014 with the novel "The Paper Boy," which has been translated into several languages and adapted into a film, and was published by Residenz Verlag in 2016. Most recently, the three-volume Amadoka epic was released: "The Story of Romana" (2023), "The Story of Uljana" (2023), and "The Story of Sofia" (2024).
Alexander Kratochvil, born in 1965 in Munich, studied Slavic studies, Eastern European history, and German studies. He translates from Ukrainian and Czech, including works by Oksana Sabuschko, Jurij Wynnytschuk, Oleksandr Irwanez, and Pavel Srut. His own books on Ukrainian and Czech literature include "Trauma-Literature-Memory" (Berlin 2019). For Residenz Verlag, he translated the novel trilogy "Amadoka."
Maria Weissenböck, born in 1980 in Vienna, studied Applied Linguistics with a focus on Russian, Ukrainian, and German. She translates from Ukrainian and Belarusian, including works by Taras Prochasko, Tanja Maljartschuk, and Volja Hapeyeva. In 2004, she received the Translator's Prize from the City of Vienna for her translation of Jurij Wynnytschuk's "The Unicorn Hunt." For Residenz Verlag, she translated the novel "The Paper Boy" and the novel trilogy "Amadoka.".
