Product details

Andrew Owen Liles is a British musician and visual artist. Based in Brighton, Liles works in the field of experimental music. He is a self-taught musician and plays guitar and piano, among other instruments. However, his main focus is on drones and sound collages. The foundation of his compositions typically consists of field recordings of various everyday sounds, which are combined with sounds from conventional or homemade instruments, as well as occasional vocals and spoken words in multiple languages. He largely avoids using common samples from radio, film, and television. Despite the experimental nature of his work, it would be problematic to categorize Liles' creations as electronic music, as he does not use computers as sound generators but primarily as tools for processing sounds, which still retain an organic sound effect in the end.
