Andrei Alexandrovich Silnov (Russian; born September 9, 1984, in Shakhty, Rostov Oblast) is a Russian athlete who became the Olympic champion in high jump in 2008. Silnov first jumped over 2.10 meters in 2002. In 2005, he finished ninth at the U23 European Championships; also in 2005, he improved his personal best to 2.28 meters. In 2006, he became the Russian champion for the first time with a jump of 2.28 meters. He won the European Cup with a jump of 2.31 meters.
