Ancient religion

For a long time, the religious worldviews of Greek and Roman culture were regarded merely as relics of a dying primitive worldview that had been scarcely researched. This perspective has dramatically changed over the past two decades, as it has become increasingly clear how significant religion was and remained in ancient cultures. The volume offers, on one hand, a competent introduction to the subject as well as broad guidance through the immense body of research literature. On the other hand, the comparative presentation of religious worldviews in antiquity aims to sharpen awareness of the differences that existed despite all the similarities. In this way, the book also fills a gap in the academic literature.
