Product details
John O'Donohue (1954-2008) studied philosophical theology in Tübingen and earned his doctorate in 1990 with a thesis on Hegel. Until his death in January 2008, O'Donohue, whose first language was Gaelic, lived in a cottage in his native Connemara in the west of Ireland. He is the author of the international bestsellers "Anam Cara" and "Echo of the Soul."
Full of poetry, John O'Donohue connects philosophical insights with the spiritual heritage of the Celtic world. There exists a world where the events of daily life remain mysterious and wondrous. Mountains, valleys, sea, and sky are animated and engage in a familiar dialogue with the inner landscapes of the soul. The realms of the beyond and the here and now are closely intertwined; even death is merely a familiar place that one has never truly left. The world being described here is not a product of imagination. The Irish philosopher John O'Donohue opens the reader's eyes to the wonderful reality of everyday life, poetically intertwining philosophical insights and inspirations with the spiritual heritage of the Celtic world. He skillfully unveils woven paths into the inner realm of the soul, where every search for oneself begins and ends, and where ultimately all answers can be found. Rarely has a book been so touching without being sentimental, so poetic and full of deep wisdom. O'Donohue magically captivates the reader from the first to the last page, opening their eyes to the mystique of the world, to wonderful encounters, and to love.
