How I explain geography

Practicing cardinal directions? No problem either. Or: "How permeable are different soils to water?" The experiments and models presented in this volume encourage your students to independently explore the world of geography. Using simple materials—such as sections of plastic bottles or soil samples, a piece of chalk, or newspaper—students can create and conduct model experiments on soil capillarity, fold mountains, volcanism, and more. Even seemingly abstract topics like latitude and longitude, contour lines, and centrifugal forces can be made "tangible" in the truest sense of the word. At the same time, your students will practice orientation and map reading skills.
