Product details

Heidelberg 1388: The young Madlen is in the service of a midwife from an early age and helps her with births and the treatment of women's ailments. In addition to her extensive knowledge of herbs, which she uses to alleviate pain, she accidentally discovers the calming effect of flickering candlelight in combination with spoken psalms during a birth. Of course, no one is allowed to find out about this special method, as it can only be witchcraft.

One day, she is called to a respected citizen who is heavily pregnant and has obviously been physically abused. Madlen is able to save the woman's life, but not her baby. The husband accuses the healer of poisoning the child with the help of herbs. This marks the beginning of Madlen's escape and the fight for the truth. She experiences a lot of love and affection and at the same time is confronted with sheer hatred.
