Product details

The book "Old Roses" by Gerda Nissen, a frequently cited yet very personally colored classic of rose literature in the German language, was first published in 1984 and has since been reprinted in a total of eleven editions, each slightly revised. Now, after more than 25 years and ten years after the author's death, a newly conceived book based on Nissen's publication is being presented. The Hamburg photographer Melitta Kolberg visited the collection of Old Roses established by Gerda Nissen at the Schleswig-Holstein Agricultural Museum in Meldorf and has newly photographed over fifty different varieties, which have been gathered since the mid-seventies, in beautiful, contemporary images. Dr. Jutta Müller has revised and supplemented the original texts by Gerda Nissen. A biographical section has also been added.
