On a winter day, Dorothee Fleck hops on her bicycle and begins a spectacular journey around the world. The solo traveler cycles through 26 countries over the course of 127 weeks, covering an impressive 61,140 kilometers. Dorothee starts her journey by following the Danube to the Black Sea, then travels through Russia, Mongolia, China, and Southeast Asia to Australia. She continues on to South America, crossing the Atacama Desert – an interesting, albeit inhospitable place for Dorothee. A particularly large swarm of guardian angels seems to hover over the author. In Mongolia, she is nearly lassoed by a drunken rider, in Irkutsk she spots a wolf, and in China, she even ends up in prison. In the metropolis of Bangkok, she collides with an SUV, and in Indonesia, she survives the chaotic traffic conditions on the island.
