A crossing of the Alps without the crowds! This new route from Lake Constance to Lake Garda offers ambitious hikers as well as leisurely walkers pure nature, mountain idyll, and unforgettable experiences.

The Rother hiking guide "Alpenüberquerung Bodensee – Gardasee" leads along mostly quiet paths from Lindau to Riva del Garda. The route traverses the Bregenz Forest, the Lechquellen Mountains, the Verwall, and the Sesvenna group through Austria. After a detour into the Swiss Lower Engadin, the route crosses some breathtaking passes in South Tyrol and Trentino, including the Ortler Mountains and the Stilfserjoch National Park. After crossing the Brenta Dolomites, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage due to their vertical cliffs and rock towers, this long-distance hike culminates in the picturesque town of Riva on Lake Garda.

With a length of 410 kilometers and 24,000 meters of elevation gain and loss, this newly developed Alpine crossing is perfect for ambitious long-distance hikers. Of course, the tour can also be completed in sections. The suggested variants allow for the daily stages to be individually adjusted for leisurely or fast hikers. Overnight stays are in cozy mountain huts or in small, quiet villages in the valley, often located away from the well-known routes.

All 28 stages are presented with reliable route descriptions, tour maps with marked routes, and informative elevation profiles. Additionally, there is information on possible variants, accommodations, and infrastructure, as well as interesting facts about history and culture along the route.
