The history of the Wendt [&] Kühn company begins in the middle of the First World War. For decades, Grete Wendt, together with her sister-in-law Olly Sommer, designed a world of figurines that is unmistakable in its signature style and continues to delight a wide audience today with its endearingly timeless designs. Alongside children's groups, animals, music boxes and daisy and brocade angels, the Grünhainich Elfpunkte angels are the best-known product, even in their 100th anniversary year. They appear in ever new variations: sometimes in a bow, sometimes on a sleigh or equipped with lanterns, sometimes as Christmas tree decorations on a shooting star or riding on the moon or travelling in a parade float loaded with an entire household.
