Alicja Kwade

Few artistic positions currently receive comparable attention to the works of the young sculptor Alicja Kwade (born 1979 in Katowice, lives and works in Berlin). Her works demonstrate how easily our constructed reality could be upended. Philosophical thought experiments take shape in installations, objects, and photography, reminding us that not everything can be understood. This concerns both societal conventions and physical laws. Alicja Kwade's subtle interventions in the everyday can reverse gravity, transform pebbles into jewels, and even open parallel worlds.
