Product details
Few architectural firms in Europe have dedicated themselves to the villa as a building type as consistently as the Stuttgart-based Alexander Brenner Architects. The studio is widely known for designs characterized by sculptural, geometric facades that resemble constructivist tableaux. A holistic approach to the building task is a common thread in all of Alexander Brenner's designs. The interior, including the kitchen, cabinets, and other built-in furniture, is treated with the same attention to detail as the exterior. Corresponding gardens with soft, flowing, sensual shapes surround and contrast with Brenner's cubic architectural sculptures. This new book follows two successful previous volumes from 2011 and 2015. It features six villas and residential houses completed between 2015 and 2022, including the architect's own house in Stuttgart, the Brenner Research House. Generously illustrated with masterful photographs by Zooey Braun, numerous plans and sketches, as well as additional images from the construction phase, the buildings are documented in detail. Informative texts and an essay by Alexander Brenner, along with a tribute to his work by architecture journalist Holger Reiners, complete this volume, which serves as a source of inspiration for anyone interested in residential architecture and villas.
