Aleramo:Eine Frau

The carefree childhood of Sibilla Aleramo comes to an abrupt end when, at seventeen, she falls in love with a worker from her father's glass factory, becomes unexpectedly pregnant, and has to marry. Suddenly a mother and wife, she finds herself trapped in the patriarchal structures of her time—just like her own mother and all the women she knows. However, instead of conforming to the expectations of her new role, she strives for freedom, self-determination, and a life full of education and literature.
