Aldo Manuzio

Aldo Manuzio (1449-1515) was one of the greatest publishers and typographers of all time. In his print shop in Venice, he transformed a simple craft into the art of the book. He is credited with innovations that played a decisive role in turning the book into the object we know today. In the comic, Andrea Aprile interweaves the temporal plane of the biographical events of the publisher and humanist with those of two young people today, in a constant game of cross-references and cross-fades. Gaspard Njock's delicate watercolours fire our imagination and thus Aldo Manuzio shows how the love of books can create an indissoluble bond between people of different generations.
