Augustine in Life, Work and Doctrine The Augustine Encyclopedia is both a conceptual and a real encyclopedia. In alphabetical order it covers terms, persons and things that are important for Augustine's life, work and teaching. In order to be able to present larger contexts, the lexicon not only takes Augustine's biography and writings into account, but also includes his ecclesiastical-political position, the personalities of his environment as well as the contemporary historical context. Because of the hardly manageable influence of Augustine on posterity, which has only been partially dealt with by research, the history of his impact is left out. The articles are published in German, English or French. Articles written in other languages will be translated into one of the three languages in agreement with the contributors.
