Acousmatics is a sound that we hear without seeing what causes it - voice without body. Acousmatics as a Laboratory: Culture - Art - Media is an interdisciplinary plea for the topicality of acousmatics today. From the invention of radiophony and the tape recorder to concrete music, acousmatics has made massive inroads into everyday life over the last century, only to be replaced by more body-based audio-visual communication with the introduction of the smartphone. What significance do voices without bodies have today, and in which areas? 17 artists and scientists dedicate themselves to acousmatics as a cultural technique with a view to the fields of art, literature, music, media and film studies and philosophy.
