Since 1994, the author has written a Christmas story for his wife every year. A stone every year. The term Christmas story refers to a perfect world - or the longing for it. He may remind us of flight from unloved reality, hypocrisy, pretending closeness and warmth, but he may also remind us of comfort and security. Every Christmas story has a certain structure, it always has something to do with miracles, regardless of whether or not religiosity exists. With each story Betts has tried to capture a life feeling characteristic of the year in question with its images, values, fashions, hopes and disappointments, thus creating a chronology of a quarter of a century of Christmas.
