Product details

This manuscript addresses various treatment modalities available in the literature for the treatment of receding gums. Receding gums represent one of the most common aesthetic and functional problems of the periodontal apparatus, but also one of the most complex in terms of etiology and treatment options. It affects both patients with good and poor oral hygiene, although it is more prevalent in men and in older age groups. Receding gums refer to the position of the gingiva, not its condition. Receded gingiva can be inflamed but may also be normal aside from its position. It can be localized or generalized and can affect one or more tooth surfaces, with the buccal surfaces being the most commonly affected. Gingival recession can be caused by periodontal diseases, deposits, inflammation, improper flossing, aggressive brushing, incorrect occlusal relationships, and dominant roots.
