Everything is a facade. Beneath the camouflage of this petty-bourgeois idyll lurks a murderous darkness. He did not invent this world; he copied it from reality. It is the merit of the chronicler Kurt Halbritter to have uncovered this neglected petty-bourgeois source of German destruction lust, which he painfully brings before our eyes in his bitter tableau.
