Achim von Borries (born November 13, 1968, in Munich) is a German film director and screenwriter. After graduating from high school, Achim von Borries aimed for a career as a film director and applied to two film schools, which initially rejected him, stating that he was still too young. Nevertheless, he felt a strong connection to the medium of film, leading him to work in television for several months, including as a camera assistant. However, this work did not align with his ambitious artistic vision, which is why he initially chose to study history, political science, and philosophy at the Free University of Berlin before transferring to the German Film and Television Academy in 1992, where he completed a directing program.
