Achermann

Franz Heinrich Achermann (July 1, 1881 in St. Erhard; April 18, 1946 in Kriens) was a Swiss clergyman and author of children's books. Achermann was the son of the public school teacher Michael Achermann and his wife Maria Josefa (née Habermacher). He spent his childhood in Oberkirch. He received his education at the secondary school in Sursee. He then pursued a Catholic theology degree in Sarnen, Lucerne, and Innsbruck. On July 12, 1908, he was ordained a priest in Lucerne. Later that same year, he took a position as a vicar in Schaffhausen, where he remained until 1913. From 1913 to 1920, he served as a vicar in Oberdorf. During this time, he began researching prehistoric caves in the Jura. He was so fascinated by this that he later incorporated his findings into a series of stories and novels set in the wilderness of the Stone and Ice Ages.
