Acesulfam
German, 2010Product details
Please note that the content of this book mainly consists of articles that are available online from Wikipedia or other free sources. Acesulfame K is a synthetic, heat-resistant sweetener. The chemist Karl Clauss accidentally discovered a sweet-tasting compound in 1967 while synthesizing oxathiazinedioxides at Hoechst AG. As a food additive, it is designated as E 950. Acesulfame belongs to the heterocycles, as the molecule contains a six-membered ring with three heteroatoms (oxygen, sulfur, and nitrogen) (oxathiazine ring).
