Due to rising fuel prices, shortage of oil resources and growing environmental awareness, the issue of energy efficiency of passenger cars is becoming increasingly important. In addition to efforts to optimize the efficiency of the internal engine, the use of the enormous waste heat losses seems to make sense. So far, only a small part of the thermal energy not converted by the engine is used (heating, turbocharger, catalytic converter, etc.). With the help of so-called thermoelectric generators, the direct conversion of thermal energy into electrical energy is possible.
