Two short, partly fragmentary dialogues from Seneca's later years. Although the Stoics generally elevate activity to a life maxim, leisure also has its good purpose, as it frees a person for the understanding of the true and the good, thereby bringing them closer to perfection ("De otio"). God's goodness is manifested in providence, which can impose harsh trials and suffering on a person to make them a "good man" ("De providentia").
