About Behaviorism

The fundamental book on the controversial philosophy known as behaviorism, written by its leading representative. Bibliography, index.

About the Author

B.F. Skinner presented a formulation of operant behavior and a method for its study that is foundational for behavioral analysis, which is now practiced in hundreds of laboratories worldwide. For this work, Dr. Skinner received the National Medal of Science as well as the Gold Medal from the American Psychological Foundation. Many practical applications of the method have been made in other sciences, such as physiology and psychopharmacology. The principles of operant conditioning led to programmed instruction and the modern concept of teaching machines, for which Dr. Skinner received numerous awards from educational organizations. He was also responsible for the first research in what became known as behavior therapy.
