Franjo Francic, born in 1958 in Ljubljana, is a storyteller, poet, and author of plays, radio dramas, and screenplays, as well as children's and young adult literature. He lives near Secovlje in the Slovenian part of Istria. His works published in German include "Kindheit" (short story 2017) by Sisyphus and "Wo verstecken sich die Schmetterlinge vor dem Regen" (short stories 2010), "Eis, Feuer, Wirklichkeit" (novel 2009), "Heimat bleiche Mutter" (novel 2005), and "und andere" (short stories 2003) by Drava. In 2005, ORF produced the radio feature "Die Begabung ist auch ein Stück Hölle. Der slowenische Schriftsteller Franjo Francic" by Erwin Köstler.

Erwin Köstler, born in 1964, is a translator and freelance literary scholar living in Vienna. He translates all literary genres, including Slovenian classics (e.g., Vladimir Bartol, Ivan Cankar, Slavko Grum, Srecko Kosovel, Prezihov Voranc) as well as contemporary Slovenian authors (e.g., Franjo Francic, Zoran Hocevar, Mojca Kumerdej, Sebastijan Pregelj, Andrej Skubic, Breda Smolnikar, Vlado Zabot) and graphic novels (e.g., Marijan Pusavec and Zoran Smiljanic). Köstler is a recipient of several awards, including the Austrian State Prize for Literary Translation Translatio (1999), the Lavrin Diploma from the Slovenian Translators' Association (2010), and the Fabjan-Hafner Translator Prize (2018).
