Product details
A nocturnal secret ritual performed by two naked men in a hotel room in Rotterdam. A tent where the artist – dressed as a magician – invites visitors to share their traumas. Butt plugs adorned with rooster feathers, a collection of gay zines, anal-sprayed paintings featuring tartan patterns, and a Zen garden made of mugwort. The book gathers AA Bronson's works from recent years. After his partners from General Idea, Felix Partz and Jorge Zontal, passed away in 1994, AA Bronson had to learn to live on his own. He invented an identity independent of his former companions and created a community of work, friendship, and love. These themes have been at the core of his art for the past 25 years. He has developed a body of work where collaboration with other artists, particularly younger queer artists, and the forging of social bonds play a central role. AA Bronson's House of Shame emphasizes the social dimension of his work through exhibitions from 2013 to 2018. These shows brought artists together in a community where performances and rituals created a shared experience – a unique blend of art, friendship, collaboration, spirituality, and humor. This book consists of two parts: an introductory monographic section that includes an essay and an interview with the artist, providing an overview of the works and exhibitions. In the second, choral part, friends were invited to testify and write a kind of logbook that narrates the five-year life story of the artist community.
