A Bridge for Judith or: Fatal Silence
German, Anke de Vries, 2007Product details
The story of child abuse starting from grade 7. Judith is different from the others, serious and withdrawn; she is often sick. She takes care of the household and her little brother to relieve her single mother. However, she never meets her mother's demands and is often beaten by her. It is only through her friendship with Michiel that Judith develops courage and self-confidence, ultimately managing to escape from her familial hell. The book highlights the disastrous consequences of ignoring or refusing to acknowledge the abuse of children within the social environment.
