A - Albtraum Wissenschaft

This book is about my experiences in and with the professionally and institutionally conducted natural sciences, funded by public money and industrial resources. One of the highest achievements of the natural sciences is that one no longer needs to look into nature or conduct experiments, but can instead calculate all parameters and relationships using a computer. Since the beginning of my doctoral studies, I worked obsessively on my research, publishing paper after paper, fighting for research funding, and jumping from position to position. I left the university at the age of 39. The scientific system is characterized by steep hierarchies. My fifteen-year odyssey through seven university and non-university research institutes allows me to note the following qualities that are conducive to a successful scientific career: - Unconditional subordination in dealings with professors - A pronounced competitive mindset that escalates to colleague hatred - Willingness to uncritically affirm the alienated, nature-destroying scientific system - Enduring the complete insignificance of one’s own education, qualifications, and work performance.
