In August 955, a mighty army of Magyars on horseback pours into the faraway Occident to wipe out the still young Christendom once and for all. Only King Otto wants to oppose the overwhelming superiority. But only a few princes reluctantly follow the monarch's call to battle. Shattered by internal strife, the king's vastly outnumbered alliance heads for a battle of epic proportions. Then fate places the outcome of the war in the lap of three godless figures, a pagan healer, a warrior who has fallen away from the faith and a Northman who worships idols. Completely unexpectedly, the strange trio holds the key to victory or defeat in their hands and tries to fight their way between the fronts to the king. A dramatic race against time takes its course.
