Product details
We are proud to present this new modern critical edition of Antoine de Lhoyer's Six Exercices, op. 27, originally published around 1812 in Paris. These exercises, written for the 5-string guitar, are remarkably advanced for their time and are well worth playing. The rapid arpeggio patterns and bold harmonic shifts in some of them can even remind one of Villa-Lobos. The Six Exercices op. 27 were arranged by Giuliani and published about 7 years later under his name as Six Preludes op. 83. We have included alternative readings for the use of the 6th string, a common publishing practice of that time. The music has been edited and fingered by Erik Stenstadvold, an expert on the guitar repertoire of the early 19th century. Additionally, there is an informative preface with detailed biographical information and critical notes. Difficulty level: 3.
