50 Years of the Slash in a Square

In April 1974, Deutsche Bank unveiled its new logo – the soon-to-be-famous "Slash in a Square." This followed a competition in which the company invited eight internationally renowned graphic designers. From 140 designs, the bank selected a proposal by Anton Stankowski, a master of constructivism and a pioneer of graphic design.

The "Slash in a Square" has long become the unmistakable trademark of Deutsche Bank. The publication released for the 50th anniversary describes the impressive range in which the logo has been used since then, recalls the company insignias previously employed by Deutsche Bank, reflects on the significance of the artist Anton Stankowski, and offers musings on future application possibilities.
