Product details

Leo, a 13-year-old boy, has known his grandparents who live in the countryside since he was little. However, this hot, endless summer is different from his previous visits: Initially, Leo spends his time as usual with his grandmother, whose care and love for her grandson stand in stark contrast to her otherwise strict and disciplined character, but this time it is his grandfather who takes care of him.

Together, they go on a tour. Leo quickly realizes that his grandfather, who travels the country as a salesman, is quite different in real life from the man he knows from their shared Sundays: Jerry, as everyone calls him due to his fondness for Jerry Cotton novels, knows everything and everyone, refers to the grandmother only as the "Sergeant," enjoys taking a swig from his flask, loves Hank Williams and Billie Holiday, has a small apartment in the city, and a girlfriend named Monette. Leo is left in awe.

It becomes clear how important the "Sergeant" is to the fundamentally unstable and vulnerable grandfather when the grandmother travels to visit her sister for a while. In the last days before school starts, the grandfather supports Leo with advice and assistance as he tries to arrange a date with his first great love, Lilia: Operation "August 32."

It is a timeless story of a last childhood summer under endless blue skies.
