Dear reader, history is a topic of interest, even in Switzerland. This broad interest is only covered by a few magazines in this country. There is also a lack of publication opportunities for younger authors who represent newer approaches. In this situation, the members of the editorial team want to take the chance to launch a new magazine. The present issue is the zero issue of travers. Journal of History – Revue d’histoire.

Since this sentence appeared in the zero issue of the magazine, travers – the "e" was added later – has published thematic issues for thirty years. The anniversary issue takes a celebratory and critical look back at thirty years of research and debates. The editorial team opens the magazine to historians who wish to comment on the past, present, and future of the journal. This issue also provides an opportunity to reflect on the intellectual and editorial project of a magazine that has been collectively and voluntarily produced by several generations of historians.
