25 Years of the Fritz Bauer Institute - A Look Back and Forward. The Fritz Bauer Institute was founded in 1995 with the mission to research National Socialist crimes, especially the Holocaust, "in the land of the perpetrators" and to communicate knowledge about them to the public. In January 2020, the Institute celebrated its 25th anniversary. At the ceremony held for this occasion, which is documented in this volume, the focus was on the one hand on the time of its creation and its actors, on the ideas of that time and the political contexts of its founding. On the other hand, it dealt with the question of what dealing with National Socialist crimes means today - under changed conditions both in politics and society in the Federal Republic of Germany as well as in contemporary historical research and educational work.
