The successful title is now in its fifth edition. Revised, more comprehensive, and updated, it still addresses nurses and doctors who are encountering the topic of ventilation for the first time in a concise, readable, and understandable manner. The book has become an indispensable guide for the safe handling of the diverse technical possibilities and settings of modern ventilators. The main topics, as in previous editions, include the various ventilation patterns, parameters, and additional settings for almost all commonly used ventilators, as well as alarm management, measurement values, and monitoring. It incorporates technical device improvements and current setting modalities based on the present scientific standard—along with minor corrections. New chapters include: AnaConDa®, cough assistants (Cough Assist), and the advantages of ventilators for non-invasive ventilation compared to standard ventilators. The topics of ventilation pressure, automation of ventilation (volume guarantee and volume support), and pressure support (mainly regarding the shut-off criteria) have been expanded.
