1995 Lichterfelde

In 1995, Hussein Akkouche was born as the fourth of six children in a family with Lebanese roots on a cold, snowy winter night. Growing up in the gray streets of Berlin-Lichterfelde, he had to assert himself among older peers from a young age and made a decision at 13 that would change his life forever: he started rapping. Today, all of Germany knows Hussein by the name Samra. In his autobiography, he reflects on his successes and setbacks, looks back on his family's past shaped by war and poverty, and candidly addresses how the darker sides of the music business nearly drove him to suicide. It is the moving story of a boy from the heart of the block who had to stand on his own two feet early on and learned at a young age to defy all the adversities that life had in store for him.
