Product details

New Discovery: Paul McCartney's Previously Unpublished Photos. An incredible treasure of nearly one thousand photos, taken by Paul McCartney with a 35mm camera, was rediscovered in his archive in 2020. They vividly document the months leading up to the end of 1963 and the beginning of 1964, when Beatlemania erupted in the UK and the four Beatles became the most famous people in the world following the band's first visit to the USA. The photos capture McCartney's personal perspective of this explosive time, as the Beatles viewed the events from the eye of the storm: "Eyes of the Storm."

"Eyes of the Storm" presents 275 photographs taken by McCartney from six cities that the four Beatles traveled to during these intense and legendary months – Liverpool, London, Paris, New York, Washington D.C., and Miami – along with many previously unknown portraits of John, George, and Ringo. In his foreword and the introductions to each chapter, McCartney recalls a time when "how else can you describe it – all hell broke loose," and he vividly describes the moment when culture shifted and the 1960s truly began.

275 previously unpublished photos by Paul McCartney from the dawn of Beatlemania – a personal document of this era with original texts by Paul McCartney. Released worldwide on June 13, 2023, coinciding with the opening of the exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, London.
