The first mention of the royal court of Chassalla, also known as Chassella, can be found in two documents from the German King Conrad I, issued in Kassel on February 18, 913. This date marks the beginning of the chronicle for the 1000th anniversary in 1913. Today, 111 years later, the Saphir im Stahl publishing house is releasing a new, expanded chronicle of the city. While earlier accounts focused on military events and dynastic dates, the new chronicle increasingly incorporates data from economic life and everyday occurrences alongside political and cultural events. The chronological journey through the history of Kassel is certainly not complete, especially since not all sources were accessible.
