1 Nervensommer

1 Nervensommer presents the image-text cycle by Friederike Mayröcker and Andreas Grunert, which emerged from a year-and-a-half dialogue between the painter and the writer starting in 1998. In a chain of associations that evolved through the interplay of painting and writing, Mayröcker responded to Grunert's visual ideas, and he reacted to her word creations. His visual language, whose connections remain enigmatic, and her texts, which primarily focus on individual perceptual phenomena and the magic of language itself, complement each other by transcending time, place, and causality. The images and texts are united by their associative interplay, their fragmentary nature, and the resulting rejection of simple interpretation and linear narrative. The artist's book 1 Nervensommer includes 13 texts by Friederike Mayröcker and 25 canvas paintings by Andreas Grunert. An additional 13 etchings complete the cycle.
