I also have a Malinois and he could just stand. But as my dog prefers to lie down, it was a great fit. The Dack is closed

Yes xxl is closed at the top. Whether the box is suitable always depends on the dog. For my 30 kg Labrador with 66 cm withers it's okay for driving, but he likes to lie fully stretched out
