A Nest Box - Three Options
The increasing urban development and deforestation of forests make it increasingly difficult for wild birds to find suitable nesting places. With a nest box, you can contribute significantly to the preservation of native wild bird species and observe them up close. The "3 in 1" nest box offers several possibilities. The set includes two front panels with differently sized entrance holes, which can be easily swapped out. Additionally, the nest box can also be set up without front panels, making it suitable for half-cavity nesters like the wagtail or the robin. All parts of the set are made from solid wood and have been charred for increased durability.
Which front panel for which bird species?
The front panel with a 28 mm entrance hole provides a safe place for blue, crested, and pine tits, protecting them from larger birds that are often nest predators. The front panel with a 33 mm entrance hole offers accommodation for larger birds, such as the nuthatch, great tit, or garden redstart. In contrast, the wren, wagtail, and robin are half-cavity nesters; they use the nest box without a front panel to raise their young.
