Reptiles are ectothermic and require warmth from an external source to optimally regulate their body temperature. Most reptiles utilize both the direct heat radiated from the sun and the transferred heat from surfaces warmed by the sun, such as branches, rocks, or other heat-retaining structures. Creating such a species-appropriate temperature gradient in a terrarium is a crucial factor for successful reptile keeping. With the electronic Exo Terra Thermostat (ON/OFF, 100W/300W), you can establish a well-controlled heating system. It allows you to maintain the necessary temperature conditions that resemble those in a desert or tropical environment. The thermostat also helps prevent overheating on hot summer days or chilling on cold winter nights. The electronic triac switch keeps the temperature at the set value and prevents temperature fluctuations in the terrarium. Connect your substrate heater, heat cable, or ceramic heat emitter to the Exo Terra Thermostat, set the desired temperature, and place the heat sensor in the desired location. The red LED heat indicator lights up when the heating device is active and turns off when the desired temperature is reached. The recessed switch of the thermostat prevents accidental temperature changes when the device is touched. The waterproof remote sensor can be easily used in very humid terrariums and aquatic environments.
The Exo Terra Thermostat should be adjusted according to the needs of the animals. Research the optimal temperature range so that you can create the right temperature gradient for the thermoregulation of your specific reptiles in your terrarium.
