The nocturnal barn owl prefers to nest in barns, church towers, and attics. However, these nesting sites are becoming increasingly rare due to renovation measures, making it more difficult for barn owls to find suitable nesting places. At night, the barn owl hunts rodents, usually flying just above the ground.

With this barn owl box, specifically designed to meet the needs of these animals and providing a dark nesting space, you can create a suitable breeding site for these elegant owls. The partition wall inside ensures additional darkness and keeps martens and other predators away from the nest. The barn owl box is suitable for installation in barns, stables, and church towers. Additionally, it can be installed on the inside of a gable or in attics.

The nesting box should be accessible directly through a hole in the gable. Since the box is completely sealed off from the interior, it prevents soiling of the attic. Ensure that the nesting box is securely and firmly attached to the gable. The entrance hole should be clearly visible from the outside and easily accessible for the owls. Hang the barn owl nesting box on the weather-protected side (ideally on the north or east side) at a height of 6 to 8 meters from the ground.

As bedding, provide a mixture of sawdust, bark mulch, or straw in the nesting box, covering the bottom with 5 to 10 cm. After successful breeding, the box should not be cleaned!.
