The three pathogens, Coronavirus (CCV), Parvovirus (CPV), and Giardia Lamblia, lead to severe gastrointestinal infections and are responsible for the most common diarrhea diseases in dogs.

Symptoms

Initially, symptoms include loss of appetite, diarrhea, vomiting, and fever. As the infection progresses, the pathogens disrupt digestive activity and cause intestinal inflammation. This results in regularly recurring, sometimes severe, and partially watery diarrhea, with or without slimy inclusions.

Disease Progression

Diarrheal diseases can lead to significant water loss (dehydration) and fluctuations in electrolyte balance, which can in turn cause circulatory problems and heart rhythm disturbances. Parvoviral infection caused by the parvovirus can be fatal if left untreated.
