The resin that flows from the tropical, evergreen benzoin tree is known as benzoin. The resin is obtained by making incisions in the benzoin tree, which can grow up to 20 meters tall, and allowing it to harden in the air. Benzoin is used in pharmacy and dentistry as a tincture, in perfumery, food flavoring, and as a fragrant incense.
