Advent Calendar "Seiffen"
Seiffen in the Ore Mountains is a state-recognized resort. However, Seiffen has become famous for its wooden art. Many toy makers call Seiffen home and are happy to show visitors their demonstration workshops. This is why Seiffen is often referred to as the toy village. Max Schanz designed the Striezel children and received the gold medal for it at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937. In 1953, the Erzgebirgisches Toy Museum Seiffen opened its doors and vividly showcases the development of Erzgebirge wooden toys from their mining roots to the present day.
Highlights during the Advent season in Seiffen include the festive parade on the 1st Advent with the children's costume group Living Toys and the grand mountain parade on the Saturday before the 3rd Advent. This lovingly designed Advent calendar immerses you in the romance of the toy village Seiffen, and the pictures behind the 24 windows depict various Seiffen Christmas figures such as nutcrackers and incense smokers.
