The famous poppy flower pattern Unikko by Marimekko was created in 1964, during a time when the design house's collections primarily featured abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting from this organic theme and designed a whole series of flower prints. Today, the iconic flower represents creativity.
